1.ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE——GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ
MANY YEARS LATER as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice. At that time Macondo was a village of twenty adobe houses, built on the bank of a river of clear water that ran along a bed of polished stones, which were white and enormous, like prehistoric eggs.
2.Metamorphosis——Franz Kafka
One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections. The bedding was hardly able to cover it and seemed ready to slide off any moment. His many legs, pitifully thin compared with the size of the rest of him, waved about helplessly as he looked.
3.The old man and the sea——Hemingway
He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf stream and he had gone eighty four days now without taking a fish. In the first forty days a boy had been with him. But after forty days without a fish the boy's parents had told him that the old man was now definitely and finally salao. which is the worst form of unluckly, and the boy had gone at their orders in another boat which caught three good fish the first week. It made the boy sad to see the old man come in each day with his skiff empty and he always went down to help him carry either the coiled lines or the gaff and harpoon and the sail that was furied around the mast. The looked like the flag of permanent dafeat.
The old man was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkils in the back of his neck. the brown blotches of the benevolent skin cancer the sun brings from its reflestion on the tropic sea were on his cheeks. The bolthes ran wll down the sides of his face and his hands had the deep-creased scars from handling heavy fish on the cords, But none of these scars were fresh. They were as old as erosions in a fishless desert.
It seems that no one before wrote about the same three books this time, ha!
