Known as the cradle of Han culture, my hometown, Xuzhou, is famous for its long history. About thousands of years ago, Liubang defeated Xiangyu’s army, establishing Han Dynasty and choosing Xuzhou as capital. At that time, his achievements were unrivalled. While now, after so many years, the two heroes both have turned into dust. Only their portrait and their tombs are left there, telling people this brilliant history. Each year, many travelers come into this city for its reputation, for the historical scenes. Wandering in different sites, people have a feeling that they pass through time and space and witness the rise and fall of this dynasty. The art of stone graving marks the aesthetic and cultural development; terracotta Army of Han shows the prosperity and dynamism of this country; the relics of Han Dynasty indicate this great country going to decline.
Having cultural atmosphere and historical precipitation in this city maybe the first reason people travel there, but later they will be deeply impressed by its colorful modern life. It is said thirty years ago, the houses were low and shabby and the roads were narrow and junk. However, now, as the progress of technology and improvement of living standard, this city has totally changed. Skyscrapers race up. Traffic is convenient and advanced. Citizens can go to anywhere in Xuzhou by bus. In the evening, neon light up the sky of the city. After the whole-day’s work, people go to the center to shopping or take part in the party. Each of their face radiates joy and happiness.
