My Hometown

At the mention of hometown, beautiful childhood memory will appear in my mind. Located along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze, my hometown is famous for the title of “town of hundreds of lakes” and “a land flowing with milk and honey”. What impressed me most were the water, mountain and people.

Not far from my home a stream surrounding the small town flowed quietly. The water was crystal clear to the bottom, a school of tiny fish flicking in it. I still remember that we a group of kids catching fish with a basket made of bamboo in the stream. You may see crabs when lucky. The strangest fish I have seen looked like a black ball full of thorns. The land along the stream was very beautiful in spring. Numerous unnamable flowers scattered here and there, decorating the land into a colorful carpet. Girls would bunch up the flowers and make garland, hanging from hair or wearing on the wrist. Behind my home were green mountains. Though the mountains were not high, the air was pretty fresh and a quantity of green trees and flowers covered the hills. My favorite flower was azalea. The hill would be carpeted with azalea blossoms in spring. Standing in the enthusiastic red, you may have the illusion that you were on fire. Not only the scenery was impressive, the villagers were also very kind. They often smiled and greeted each other. Once you were in trouble, everyone would try to help you without hesitation.

But things have changed. Not everything can remain what it was. With a chemical plant established and the exploitation of the mountains, some mountains partly bared and the air and water are polluted. Anyway, I’m lucky that I had the most memorable and precious memory. The beauty of my hometown is and will always remain in my mind.
