Me in the eyes of other people

I was confused about the question "what kind of person I am in the eyes of other people ". I have never thought about this question because in my mind we are familiar with each other and this question is meaningless. We always guess what kind of people we are in the eyes of others. Until now, I have the chance to know the answer.
First, I asked my parents in their mind what kind of person I am. My mother told me that with my growth, they deepened the understanding of me constantly, and their evaluation about me was changing. When I was a child, my mother said, I was smart and cute and I was the apple of their eyes. With age increasing, I become mature gradually, although I am a little childish sometimes. However, in my adolescence, I was rebellious. Sometimes I was not obedient. I was always against them. My mom said they were a bit disappointed. But they did understand me because they thought this kind of behavior was a kind of representation of growth. Now, I am already an adult, I am not *** any more and they are gratified at me. They feel that their travail is worthwhile.
Then I asked my friends about the question. From my friends’ perspective, I am mature，dynamic and honest. When they come up against difficulties, I am a teacher who can give them useful advice to help them deal with their problems. When they are not happy, I am an intimate who can listen to them about their worries and share their pain with them. But one thing surprised me. My roommates said that when they saw me at the first time, I was inhospitable because I introduced myself in an impassive, matter-of-fact way. I explained to them later that I was just too shy to talk with strangers. This thing tells us that sometimes communications can clarify some misunderstandings.
In conclusion, there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. I can not decide my image in the eyes of other people, but I can decide what kind of person I am. So follow your own course, and let people talk.
