destitute
adj. Someone who is destitute has no money or possessions穷困的;赤贫的
Eg: 1.Asian countries that were destitute a generation ago now boast some of thehighest living standards in the world.
  2.Though destitude, he didin’t give up his dream.

jubilant
adj. full of high-spirited delight狂欢的,兴高采烈的
Eg: 1.The team were greeted by thousands of jubilant supporters.
  2.She is jubilant and full with hope for the future.

gaunt
adj. very thin especially from disease or hunger or cold瘦削的,憔悴的
Eg: 1.Tall, gaunt, blunt and determined, to the world she embodied the steelystubbornness of the israeli spirit.
  2.The old man appears gaunt and feeble, but his voice buoyant.

ravenous
adj. extremely hungry, devouring or craving food in great quantities饿极了的;狼吞虎咽的
Eg: 1.Now people go out in a mad rush to shop, like ravenous vampires feasting on newblood.
  2.By that time I was ravenous.

sagacious
adj. acutely insightful and wise睿智的,聪慧的
Eg: 1.Between these four ways, a less sagacious man would have remained undecided.
