Education and inequality 修改后 交的有点迟,望见谅哦
Education and inequality 修改后 交的有点迟,望见谅哦
With the development of human society, education has played an important role in history. However, the issue whether education brings equality or inequality to us, for which different people hold different views. As far as I'm concerned, education brings more inequalities.
Firstly, inequality still exists in different areas, especially between cities and remote poor districts. Secondly, more enterprises demand too high educational background, which deprives some potential employees with enough competence of job chances. Thirdly, people with better education usually get a higher-paid position, which will help their children get a better living and education environment. But people with poor education may get a lower-paid job, which can make it difficult for their children to get enough nutrients and decent living environment, let alone education. To conclude, all of above points constitute a vicious circle.
Though education has gotten its prevalence all over China, inequality still exists in different districts, which is obvious between cities and remote areas. Firstly, cities have more advanced and complete education equipment, such as high buildings, beautiful campuses, audio-visual facility and so on, which are beneficial for students to be exposed to knowledge. However, in remote areas, children can only sit in old classrooms, with broken and shabby desks, chairs and windows. Even worse, they have never seen a computer. In such case, how can they get a guaranteed education compared to students in cities? In addition, the lack of teacher resources in poor mountain areas remains a thorny problem. Because of low salary, arduous living condition and dangerous transport, many teachers refuse to dedicate themselves into mountain areas, therefore, they would rather compete for teacher position in cities. On the contrary, only a few old native teachers are willing to stay in poor counties, with low-qualified education skills and insufficient knowledge. In terms of knowledge, it is reasonable that children in cities are superior to children in remote areas. Last but not least, it is much easier for students in cities to be admitted by universities. Most universities usually set a lower threshold for students with native city registered permanent residence. That is to say, only if students from other cities get much higher marks than native students can they go to those universities. To conclude, if you are born in cities, you will get more chances and advantages.
It is an unassailable fact that most companies pay critical attention to interviewees’ degrees. Those who possess high degrees are easier to get good jobs than those don't. However, it is not always certain that degree certificates guarantee that their holders are competent for the position. In recent years, we have witnessed so many elites with poor practical skills, psychological problems, poorly moral qualities and insufficient teamwork abilities. Take Fan Paopao, graduating from Pei-King University, as an example, during the Sichuan earthquake,he fled out firstly, leaving his students deserted in the disaster. Though he had received advanced education, it is a shame that he never knew how to be a true teacher. A good teacher should be the one who not only spreads his wisdom, but also protects his students. So, it is obviously unfair to judge interviewees from the sole educational aspect. Otherwise, potential employees with no educational degrees but decent comprehensive qualities may be neglected. What’s more, fake degree certificates are destroying the fairness and justice, which brings more disorder to
It is very fortunate to be born in a well-educated family. Well-educated parents know more how to cultivate their children better and provide more comfortable living conditions. Children in such family get more accesses to books, printings, musical instruments and entertainments, which is beneficial to their overall development, and education is quite an easy case. On the other hand, many poor-educated parents have to spend much time in labor job, leaving little time to care for children's development. They think their main mission is to make money and bring children up, not aware of their important role in children's growth and education. Some of such children many study hard and make some achievement, but the majority of them still follow their parents' footprints, just for lack of good education.
There is nothing absolutely fair in the world, and surely education is not an exception. Inequalities are reasonable to exist and stay in our life. What we need to do is to adjust to it and rely on our government to improve the educational system to benefit every citizen. What's more, we also must keep it in mind what we want and pursuit our dream properly in the unequal system.
