In China, entering a famous college means getting the chance to reach the top income quartile. However, can education turn destiny? All proved evidences don't support an affirmative answer. Economic inequality leads to unjust educational distribution. Let alone the graduation and job hunting ,college entrance examination has laid the foundation of failure.
Not to mention the academic environment or faculty qualities, assuming that two freshmen, one from rural or remote places and the other ,a child of the rich or powerful,study the same major in the same college, we can't be sure that they are recruited in the same academic level.
The poor boy is convinced that he can enter the elite college and change his fate as long as he works hard. Finally, he grasps the limited opportunity and wins in the college entrance examination. Assuming he failed the examination, it would be highly unlikely for him to get rid of poverty.
But when filling in the application, he gets confused.Which school should I choose? Which major is promising? For instance, they may turn their son into art student, even though the boy knows nothing about art, and take advantage of the low admission line. After being enrolled by the college, he was shifted to the ideal major with the help of his parents. Or perhaps, this student is good enough to attend the university. With broader horizon and wiser advices ,he can easily know what he wants and make the proper choice. Moreover, some parents, such as professors or faculty ,have privilege to let their children go to college with low grade. The rich boy need not to work hard but to achieve the same degree.
As though college entrance examination is the most impartial approach to enroll talents, still, the inequality does exist. It's useless to complain about the deficient formulation.
