Social inequality: can school narrow the gap? Empty Social inequality: can school narrow the gap?

Children enter the school system from different backgrounds, have different experiences of education, and leave with very different results. As a group, children from poorer background are less successful than their more advantaged peers in tests across a rage of subjects, which is a widespread international phenomenon.Different factors of interaction compound the links between social disadvantage and education.

Truth always speaks louder than words. A 2007 Rowntree Foundation report says: “Children from poor homes are nearly a year behind when they start school and two years behind by age 14, and these children tend to have a far less positive view of learning, of school and of themselves.” Children from the poorest and most disadvantaged homes are most likely to attend the lowest performing schools and to achieve the poorest academic outcomes. These families tend to live in areas of urban deprivation, where high levels of ill-health, poor housing and overcrowding, and a host of other factors associated with poor educational outcomes are widespread.

Underachievement cannot simply be explained by reference to children and young people’s backgrounds. The type of school they attend, the quality of teaching in the school is also of importance.

It is universally acknowledged that universities are graduated in different classes like 211 project university and 985 project university. The role of these universities are elite institutions which have first-class facility. Competition among institutions is based on prestige, relentlessly matching the most-advantaged students with the most-selective institutions.Logically certainly the talents put out by those elite university are the elite of our society as well as the main motivation of technology. The Race Between Education and Technology, reveals a sharp increase in the salaries of individuals with college diplomas and advanced degrees, because of the need for better-educated workers in our increasingly complex economy. While the rest are stratified in a finely grained hierarchy of separate and unequal tiers of four-year and two-year institutions.

The origin purpose of education is civilizing people and bring up talents. However ,during the process of searching for fairness and the wide spectrum of intelligence.Education especially higher education does not narrow the gap of social inequality.Nonetheless, we should hold faithful attitude towards education that it will be potential strength of social mobility with proper government instruction and support from helping the poor.

1.Children enter the school system from different backgrounds 改成children enter school比较好
2.the lowest performing schools 上网查询后验证,如果想表达“表现不佳的学校”这个意思,应该是“poorly performing schools ”
3.high levels of和 are widespread 是重复的,表达的是同一个意思,把high levels of去掉
4.The type of school they attend, the quality of teaching in the school is also of importance 这句话主语是复数,谓语动词应该用are
5.The role of these universities are elite institutions which have first-class facility.这句话改成these universities play the role of elite institutions equipped with first-class facility 更好
6. the talents put out by those elite university 经验证“put out”没有你想表达的“挑选出”的意思,可以改成“elected out”;还有,是“those elite universities”
7.The origin purpose of education 好像改成“the original purpose”比较好
8.最后,对文章总体提点意见,文章调理不够清晰,读者读完没有很能把握你的论点,建议加点连接词,并整理一下论点。

Social inequality: can school narrow the gap?

Children enter school from different backgrounds, have different experiences of education, thus leave with very different results. As a group, children from poorer background are less successful than their more advantaged peers in tests across a rage of subjects, which is a widespread international phenomenon.Different factors of interaction compound the links between social disadvantage and education.

Children from the poorest and most disadvantaged homes are most likely to attend the poorly performing schools and to achieve the poorest academic outcomes. These families tend to live in areas of urban deprivation, where ill-health, poor housing and overcrowding, and a host of other factors associated with poor educational outcomes are widespread. Truth always speaks louder than words. A 2007 Rowntree Foundation report says: “Children from poor homes are nearly a year behind when they start school and two years behind by age 14, and these children tend to have a far less positive view of learning, of school and of themselves.”

However ,during the process of searching for fairness and the wide spectrum of intelligence.Education especially higher education does not narrow the gap of social inequality.Nonetheless, we should hold faithful attitude towards education that it will be potential strength of social mobility with proper government instruction and support from helping the poor.

开头的论点提出可以再考虑一下,总觉得有些弱啊。结尾应该是这篇文章里写的最好的一段了。
