Education inequality and social inequality
Education inequality and social inequality
As is recognized by most people, education inequality leads to social inequality problems. As the gap between the rich and poor grows, education has become the most practical and effective way available for the low-income groups to change their social status. However, education inequality has deprived them of this precious opportunity.
To ensure education equality, our government has carried out several policies to distribute education resources more reasonably while the current situation is not that satisfying. Based on a survey of 2009, only 23% of the public investment in education was distributed to the country. It is necessary to point out that the country population consists of more than 60% of the total population. In some remote areas, the teaching facilities and staff cannot be well guaranteed. Some school buildings have become dilapidated houses, the school bus they take every day are often reported with safety problems. They can only learn a few subjects because of the lack of qualified teachers. In contrast, the urban schools receive more than 70% of the government education investment with a population of less than 40%. These schools are equipped with advanced teaching facilities and qualified teachers. The students in the cities are more likely to be admitted by the top universities thanks to their good education. It is getting increasingly hard for those students from countries to receive the admission of a famous university. Even they are hard-working enough and lucky enough to be accepted, most of them cannot pay the expensive tuition. This is why most students in the countries chose to work after high school not to continue pursuing higher education.
Only when social inequality problems are properly solved can our society be harmonious and stable, if the gap between different classes becomes too huge, our society system will break down just like the late period of Yuan Dynasty. To narrow this gap, education has been proved to be the most practical and effective method. It is high time that we paid more attention to solve education inequality problems for a harmonious society.
