Is Higher Education an Engine of Inequality
In realistic life , we have to recognize that economy has extremely big effects on higher education .It is a little difficult for the students from poor families to take and smoothly complete higher education .In many cases , students accepted higher education may have better future than the others .So can we get the conclusion that higher education is an engine of inequality ? No , we can’t .
Owing to lack higher education , some students from poor families apparently lack ability and fundamental skills to occupy some well-paied jobs .This may cause that they lose many opportunities to achieve the farther value of their lives . It is imaginable that most of them can not have better future than the rich students . But it is not the fault of higher education , which is not an engine of inequality . On the contrary , higher education can not only change one’s life , but also narrow the gap between the poor and the rich . Students from poor families can change their lives by higher education . If the students drop out at young age instead of studying , they won’t have the chance to live a higher quality life as the rich people .They do not have chance to make friends with the people from higher class . Once they begin to work , their life can not have much changes . There will be a big gap between the poor and rich all the time . However , if the poor students from poor families accept higher education , the life will be totally different .Nowadays , our nation and government have taken many profitable policies to help poor students finish higher education . They do need have much money to buy the luxury . They just need to pay for the daily life spending .So i t is not too hard for them to complete the higher education with the help of the walfare from school and government . Then the students can get jobs by themselves and get benefits all their lives . So they don’t have to live the poor life as their parents . Their lives are totally changed by higher education . After getting jobs , they will build families in the cities .Althrough the process is filled with bitter and hardship , their next generation can benefit a lot from it . Their children can have the same opportunities with the rich children to complete in the future . So they may make big progress to contribute their next generation .
From the facts , we can see that higher education can also lessen the gap between the rich and the poor . It is the best tool for our society to reduce inequality .
