Nowadays, higher education, no longer the same as it was in the past,has become an engine of inequality.Many students can not get higher education just because they have no money or they are in lower social states.This phenomenon is also concerned with some other inequalities in our society,which need we to pay much attention to.
Our society has long time faced with the problems of high unemployment.Many people keep on hunting for jobs,but still can not get a suitable job. Why so many people can not get jobs as well as many companies are trying to hire a worker with high salary?It is because many jobs are now open only to people who have college credentials or even higher degree.And actually, people who have not get a degree are capable of doing these jobs.I have heard many things like this,one of my relative who is old than me.He graduated from high school and had get higher education.He had already hunting for a job for one year,but still stay at home. In order to get a job instead of staying at home, many people decide to take higher education.But a college can only get a number of students,this of course lead to the inequality in higher education.
In the past,only a few people want to get higher education,so the college will get everyone who pass the exam.But now, every one wants to enroll in a college.In order to control the number of students ,the college rises tuition and set high grades.This is not equal for the rich and poor students.Some poor students want to get rid of the poor,so they try their best to work hard in order to get into college.But they have no money to hire a tutor like many rich students do,they can not ask question after class.Although they do much more,they can not get higher grades than the richer.And also they are in lower social states,they have no so called"relations"and money,so they have no means to get higher education when they had not passed the exam.At this time,the only thing they can do is to give up and get a low paied job which need no skills and knowledge,like house cleaner.We have all see from some news,many students who live in remote mountains or a place far away from the prosperous cities.They had done everything they can do to get education but still can not get higher education.
There are some other cases,many parents decided to loan for the tuition.It is true that their children have enrolled in the college,but the inequality still exit.On the one hand the grades of college students are not only concerned with study but also some other things.And poor students have no time and ability to take part in these activities,also the school has done little to help these students.So when they have no superiority to compete with other students.On the other hand,the poor students do not have enough money,so they keep a tough life in the school.And they are looked down on by the rich students,this will make them feel self-abased and of course will be a trouble for them when finding a job.This is not the only one inequality in job hunting.
Another is even two people graduated from the same college,and compete for the same position.The company will of course take the rich one.At this time,the higher education seems to be a useless thing.Many poor students may think whether it is right to take the higher education.They are very confused about their future just because of the inequality.No matter what they do,inequalities always exit.
There are inequalities in society and this lead to the inequality in higher education.Also in turn,this makes the situation much more worse.I think it is time for the college,the government and the society to do something to eliminate the inequality in our life and do more to help those who need help.If we all care more about others,there will be no differences between rich and poor,and there will be no inequality.
