Higher Education—An Engine of Equality
Nowadays more and more people start to question the function of higher education as an equalizer. Thus there is a growing controversy over whether higher education intensifies the inequality in society. In my perspective, it is not sensible to blame the inequality brought about by born and intensified by the unequal society on higher education.
Generally, universities or colleges admit students by the talent-oriented or score-oriented principle. In the other words, wealthy or not, as long as a student is qualified to enter a certain university judging from his special talent or marks in the college entrance examination, he can obtain the opportunity to pursue his study in the university. A university takes not the disparity in family backgrounds but the difference in talents into consideration while selecting the students. So higher education doesn’t discriminate anybody.
In addition, students enrolled in a university have the equal access to the educational resources provided by the university. They have equal opportunities to be exposed to professional teachers with specified knowledge, spacious libraries with rich kinds of books, and useful information released out by the university for all the students’ sake. Thus, inequally treated as they may be in the wordly society owning to their different family backgrounds, students can enjoy equality to a high degree in the higher education because they are provided with equal educational resources.
What’s more, almost every university has set up various kinds of scholarships, of which some are equally available for any student competent enough to be qualified, others, with humanization, are particular for students in need. Student loans are also designed for students who can’t afford the education fees. In this sense, students living in lower standard of life are taken more care of in universities.
From the pionts mentioned before, it can be safely concluded that universities are trying to supply equal opportunity for every student to pursue his study and consider more for poorer students. Thus, higher education, insteasd of intensifying the inequality in society, functions as an equalizer by providing students with equal opportunity to equip themselves with the competitive edges the society requires.

文章语句优美,条理清晰,理据充分,但要多注意拼写问题。
